The rapid growth of manufacturing and increasing resource consumption are inevitably affecting the environment. Today, the world around us is polluted with noise, light, carbon dioxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and many other hazardous chemicals. Their impact on human health can lead to respiratory infections, hearing loss, and in the long term cause heart disease, lung cancer, and other critical health conditions.

This emphasizes the need for a system that would allow individuals and businesses to check and monitor the environment to protect themselves from exposure to harmful factors and substances and minimize their negative impact on the environment.

Solution

Softarex has developed GreenVaro (Patent Pending. Application No. 15/088,658) a hardware-software system for complex environmental monitoring. The solution can collect and analyze up to 14 environmental parameters, including air humidity and temperature, carbon dioxide and monoxide levels, atmospheric pressure, and many others.

The two main components of the system are the Greenvaro Monitoring Device and the Greenvaro mobile application:

  • The Monitoring Device is a modular system that consists of a Central Unit and additional sensor modules that append to the Central Unit via mini-USB connectors or wireless communications. The Central Unit contains a processor, power supply, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi modules, and a basic set of sensors. So, using the most suitable sensor modules, users can assemble their own system, without changing the Central Unit. The Monitoring Device transfers all data collected and processed to the server.
  • The GreenVaro mobile application allows users to view the data collected by the Monitoring Device and gives them full control over their environment. The app provides the following features:

    • Measurement history and updates — the app stores all collected data in one place, so users always have a complete and detailed picture of environmental changes at their fingertips;
    • Data visualization — the app visualizes the collected data in the form of plain charts and breakdowns to illustrate the dynamics of parameters and their compliance with specified standards;
    • Notifications — users receive notifications if one of the parameters goes above or below the accepted range;
    • Useful tips — the app provides analytical information generated by the expert system and gives recommendations for improving environmental conditions;
    • Configuration settings — app users can configure the delivery of notifications and data transfer to the server;
    • Cross-platform compatibility — the app can run on both Android and iOS.
